Kootenai County Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested in Philippines, Returned to Idaho
A Coeur d’Alene-area man who fled to the Philippines while under investigation for multiple sexual assaults in Kootenai County has been extradited to Idaho and now faces serious felony charges. Michael T. Moore, 62, was booked into the Kootenai County jail on May 10 following his arrest abroad with assistance from U.S. Marshals.
What Investigators Say Happened
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Moore placed social media advertisements seeking workers for his property near Coeur d’Alene in 2017. Investigators allege that victims who responded to those ads were subsequently drugged and sexually assaulted. Moore now faces two counts of rape, along with drug and battery charges.
Authorities say Moore left for the Philippines while forensic test results were still pending, effectively evading arrest for years before U.S. Marshals tracked him down overseas and took him into custody.
What Comes Next
Moore is currently held in the Kootenai County jail as the case moves forward through the court system. The charges against him carry significant potential penalties under Idaho law. No trial date has been publicly announced.
