North Idaho Teams Battle in District 1 Little League 10U Tournament at Canfield

The Idaho District 1 Little League 10U tournament is underway across Coeur d’Alene and surrounding communities, with multiple Kootenai County and North Idaho teams competing for advancement. Play continues through the weekend at Canfield Sports Complex and Croffoot Park in Hayden, with semifinal matchups set for Saturday and Sunday.

Friday’s Opening Action

Coeur d’Alene Black opened tournament play Friday with a 7-3 victory over Hayden at Canfield Sports Complex. The team’s offense featured Gabriel Charizio sliding safely into third base and Jacob Molinar making a put-out at first. Despite the loss, Hayden bounced back later Friday to defeat Coeur d’Alene Black 7-6 in a winners bracket contest, collecting nine hits with five doubles in the process.

Post Falls made an impressive statement in its opening game, shutting out Sandpoint 16-0 in a winners bracket matchup. Ryan Carasco led the offensive charge with two home runs. The team later dominated Boundary County 14-4, racking up 12 hits in the process. Braden Drapeau contributed significantly to Post Falls’ tournament run, hitting his third home run of the competition against Boundary County.

Lewiston White advanced with a dominant 17-0 victory over Timberlake, while Hayden defeated Lewiston 14-1 in another loser-out game.

Saturday Semifinal Matchups

Saturday’s schedule features multiple semifinal contests across Coeur d’Alene and Hayden. Post Falls faces Coeur d’Alene Black at noon at Canfield Sports Complex, while Hayden meets Sandpoint at 9 a.m. at Canfield in another semifinal.

Coeur d’Alene Black advances to a 9 a.m. semifinal against Lewiston White at Canfield. The two teams secured their advancement through Friday’s winners bracket play.

In loser-out action Saturday, Coeur d’Alene Black plays Lewiston at 9 a.m. at Croffoot Park in Hayden. Boundary County faces St. Maries at 9 a.m. at the same location, while Hayden meets St. Maries at noon at Canfield. Timberlake takes on Post Falls at 9 a.m. at Canfield in another elimination game.

Sunday Championship Round

The tournament reaches its conclusion Sunday with a semifinal matchup between Post Falls and Hayden scheduled for 9 a.m. at Croffoot Park in Hayden. Championship games and final placings will be determined based on Saturday’s results.

The District 1 tournament brings together youth baseball programs from across North Idaho and Eastern Washington, providing competitive play for 10-year-old athletes from Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, and surrounding communities. The event showcases the region’s youth sports infrastructure and community commitment to athletic development.
