A Coeur d’Alene man is in custody after a shooting at an apartment complex early Tuesday morning left two people injured. The Coeur d’Alene Police Department responded to the 200 block of 19th Street around 3:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire.
Incident Details
Police said the victims, a woman and her male friend, had returned to their residence after spending time downtown. Upon their arrival, another male resident confronted the pair, leading to an argument. The situation escalated quickly when the homeowner fired a single round that struck both individuals.
“An argument ensued and escalated to the point that the male homeowner fired a single round that struck both victims,” police said in a statement regarding the incident.
Victims Transported for Treatment
Emergency responders transported the two victims to Kootenai Health for medical treatment. Authorities have not released the names of the injured parties pending further investigation into the shooting.
The suspect remains in custody as investigators continue to gather evidence from the scene. No additional details regarding the severity of the injuries or charges filed against the suspect were immediately available.
