Idaho State Police Release Images of Pickup, Trailer in Hauser Hit-and-Run Crash

Idaho State Police have released photographs and video footage of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision on State Highway 53 in Hauser, seeking the public’s help to identify the driver and locate the pickup and trailer that fled the scene.

The crash occurred Wednesday at approximately 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 53 and Prairie Avenue in the Hauser area of Kootenai County. A gold Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound on Highway 53 collided with a silver pickup truck that was turning eastbound from Highway 53 onto Prairie Avenue. The pickup was towing a trailer carrying a small excavator.

Investigation Underway in Kootenai County

Following the collision, the pickup and trailer left the scene without stopping. State Police have released images of both vehicles as part of the investigation, hoping that members of the public may recognize the truck or provide information about its whereabouts.

Anyone with information about the vehicle, its driver, or the circumstances of the crash is urged to contact Sgt. Ron Sutton at 208-209-8620. The agency did not immediately release additional details about injuries or damage sustained in the collision.

This incident follows other recent traffic crashes in the Coeur d’Alene area requiring State Police investigation and underscores the importance of reporting hit-and-run incidents to law enforcement promptly.

Residents with tips about the Hauser crash are encouraged to call the ISP sergeant directly or report through official State Police channels. Hit-and-run crashes are felonies under Idaho law when they result in injury or property damage and the driver fails to remain at the scene or provide required information.
