Idaho State Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a pickup truck involved in a collision on Highway 53 in Kootenai County. The two-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday afternoon near Prairie Avenue, leaving one vehicle damaged and the other fleeing the scene.
According to ISP, a gold Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound on Highway 53 collided with a silver pickup truck pulling a trailer carrying a small excavator. The pickup had turned eastbound onto Prairie Avenue from Highway 53 at approximately 3:15 p.m. Following the impact, the pickup and trailer left the scene without stopping.
State police are seeking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the silver pickup. Potential witnesses can contact ISP at 208-209-8620 with details about the incident or the fleeing vehicle.
The crash adds to ongoing public safety concerns in the Coeur d’Alene area, where emergency responders regularly respond to serious incidents across Kootenai County.
