The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office will host a National Night Out gathering at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds on August 4, offering residents a chance to connect with local law enforcement and first responders in a casual, family-friendly setting. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is free to attend.

What to Expect

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet sheriff’s deputies, police officers, and emergency responders while enjoying live music, food, and refreshments. The program features K9 demonstrations and displays of first responder vehicles. Community resource booths will provide information on services and safety programs available throughout Kootenai County.

Building Community Trust

National Night Out, held annually across the country, emphasizes strengthening relationships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. The Kootenai County event reflects that mission, creating an informal environment where families can learn about local emergency services and ask questions in a non-emergency context.

The fairgrounds location makes the event accessible to residents throughout the county, from Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls to Hayden, Rathdrum, and surrounding areas. Organizers stress that the event is designed to be welcoming to all ages, making it an ideal outing for families looking for free summer activities in the region.

Additional details, including parking information and a complete list of activities, will be announced as the event date approaches. Residents interested in attending should plan to arrive during the four-hour window to explore booths, sample food, and watch demonstrations at their own pace.
