Post Falls Celebrates Nation’s 250th Anniversary With Patriotic Parade Saturday

Post Falls will kick off its annual summer festival Saturday with a parade honoring America’s 250th anniversary, drawing community members and visitors to celebrate the milestone together. The Post Falls Festival Parade takes place July 11, beginning at 10 a.m. along Seltice Way, stretching from Frederick Street to Idaho Road in the heart of the Kootenai County city.

The parade, themed “America 250,” will feature a cross-section of North Idaho civic life: local businesses, community organizations, service clubs, marching groups, vintage vehicles, and patriotic displays. The event offers residents and visitors from across Kootenai County and the greater Panhandle region a chance to gather and mark the nation’s bicentennial milestone together.

Parade Details and Road Impacts

Mayor Randy Westlund underscored the event’s role in community life, noting that “The Post Falls Festival Parade is a cherished community tradition that brings residents and visitors together each year.” The parade will be emceed by Kerri Thoreson, former Post Falls City Council President. The announcer’s station will be positioned on the north side of Seltice Way, directly across from Les Schwab.

Residents planning to attend should be aware that temporary road closures will be in effect before and during the parade. Those traveling through Post Falls on Saturday morning should allow extra time and consider alternate routes around the Seltice Way corridor during parade hours.

Festival Continues at Q’emiln Park

The parade serves as the opening event for the larger Post Falls Festival, which continues at Q’emiln Park following the morning procession. The festival grounds will feature live entertainment, food vendors, and family-friendly activities throughout the day, providing Post Falls residents and visitors with an extended celebration of summer and the nation’s landmark anniversary.

The combination of the patriotic parade and the community festival reflects Post Falls’ commitment to bringing together residents across the city and drawing visitors from throughout Kootenai County and surrounding North Idaho communities. Events like the Post Falls Festival Parade have long served as anchors for summer civic life in smaller Idaho communities, offering a venue for local businesses and organizations to connect with their neighborhoods.

For residents interested in additional community events happening in the region this summer, the North Idaho Fairgrounds will host the 29th Annual Arenacross and Freestyle Racing Event this weekend, and the Coeur d’Alene Faith & Fitness Quest has named its first monthly champions as part of ongoing summer programming across Kootenai County.

What to Expect Saturday

Attendees should arrive early to secure viewing spots along the parade route. The announcer’s area on the north side of Seltice Way will provide a prime vantage point for those who prefer an organized viewing location. Parking in downtown Post Falls may be limited during parade hours, so visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly.

The America 250 theme reflects a nationwide effort to commemorate the nation’s founding and heritage as communities across Idaho and the country mark the significant milestone throughout 2026.
