Post Falls Day Parade Draws Thousands Along Seltice Way in Show of Community Spirit

Post Falls, Idaho — Seltice Way filled with more than 1,000 residents on Saturday as the annual Post Falls Day parade rolled through the city’s heart, drawing locals of all ages for a celebration of community pride that local officials, students, and civic groups all turned out to share.

Hometown Faces Fill the Route

The parade brought together a wide range of participants, from elected leaders to high school athletes to North Idaho’s own royalty. Post Falls Mayor Randy Westlund and members of the city council joined the procession, while 2026 Miss Idaho Heather Routh made an appearance along the route. The Albeni Falls Pipes and Drums of North Idaho added a spirited musical presence with their bagpipe performance, and other participants handed out candy, bubbles, and toys to children lining the sidewalks.

Victor Chacon, a Post Falls High School senior who marched alongside his varsity football teammates, captured the mood of the day. “It is such an amazing thing to celebrate,” Chacon said. “It shows pride and love for the city we call home.” He went on to say that while Post Falls has much to offer in terms of scenery and opportunity, it is ultimately the people who make the city exceptional. “The thing that makes it so great is the community,” he said.

A Tribute Amid the Celebration

Not every moment of the parade was purely festive. Members of the North Idaho Sparklers marched carrying a banner bearing a photograph of fellow Sparkler Sarah Johnson, who recently passed away. The group had learned of Johnson’s death during the Fourth of July parade in Coeur d’Alene on July 4, and Saturday’s Post Falls Day procession became an opportunity to honor her memory publicly among friends and neighbors.

The tribute reflected something deeper about small-town life in North Idaho — the same tight-knit connections that make celebrations like this one meaningful also mean that losses are shared widely and openly.

A Long-Standing North Idaho Tradition

The Post Falls Day parade has long served as a cornerstone of summer community life in the city. For many residents, attendance stretches back decades, a tradition passed down through families and reinforced year after year by the familiar rhythm of floats, music, and neighbors gathering along the curb.

Post Falls has grown considerably in recent years, with new residents arriving from across the region and the country drawn by the area’s natural beauty, relatively affordable cost of living, and proximity to Lake Coeur d’Alene. Even as the city expands, events like the Post Falls Day parade serve as an anchor — a reminder of the community identity that long-time residents have built and that newcomers are invited to join.

Saturday’s turnout of more than 1,000 people along Seltice Way suggests that sense of belonging remains strong, even as growth transforms the surrounding landscape. From high school athletes to civic leaders to bagpipers, the parade offered a snapshot of who Post Falls is and what its residents value.

What Comes Next for Post Falls Community Events

Summer is in full swing across Kootenai County, with community events keeping residents connected throughout the season. Post Falls and the broader North Idaho Panhandle region have seen a packed calendar of patriotic and civic celebrations this year. Earlier this month, a patriotic parade marked the nation’s 250th anniversary in the area, drawing residents together for another display of civic pride.

For those looking to stay engaged with local events, the city of Post Falls and Kootenai County community organizations continue to host gatherings throughout the summer months. From the North Idaho Fairgrounds to downtown Coeur d’Alene to local neighborhoods across the region, the spirit of community that Victor Chacon described on Saturday tends to show up reliably wherever North Idaho residents gather.

Residents interested in upcoming community events in Post Falls are encouraged to monitor city announcements and local event listings for additional opportunities to connect with neighbors and celebrate life in one of Idaho’s fastest-growing communities.
