Box Truck Rollover Closes I-90 Near Rose Lake for Four Hours
A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near Kootenai County’s Rose Lake area closed eastbound lanes for roughly four hours early Sunday morning, according to the Idaho State Police.
The collision occurred around 2:24 a.m. on May 10, 2026, near milepost 32 on the east side of 4th of July Pass. A Ryder box truck traveling eastbound left its lane, collided with a jersey barrier, and overturned, coming to rest across the roadway.
The vehicle’s sole occupant — a 47-year-old man from Reedsport, Oregon — was taken by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Emergency crews worked through the early morning hours to assist the driver and remove the overturned truck from the highway. Eastbound I-90 traffic was fully blocked during that period before the roadway was eventually cleared and reopened.
Idaho State Police District 1, which serves Kootenai County and the surrounding North Idaho Panhandle region, is handling the investigation. The cause of the lane departure has not been publicly disclosed.
