Kootenai County News is an independent local news publication serving Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum, and Spirit Lake, and all of Kootenai County, Idaho. We are part of the Idaho News Network, a statewide network of county-level news publications committed to fact-based community journalism.
Our Mission
Kootenai County News exists to provide the residents of Kootenai County with reliable, timely, and locally relevant news coverage. We believe informed communities make better decisions, and that local journalism is essential to civic health.
Accuracy and Fairness
Every article published by Kootenai County News is held to a standard of factual accuracy. We verify information through official sources, public records, and named sources before publication. When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted within the article.
We strive to present all sides of a story fairly. When covering disputes or controversies, we seek comment from all relevant parties. If a party declines to comment or cannot be reached, we note that in the article.
