Kootenai County District Court Publishes Official Legal Notices for April 24, 2026, Including Name Changes, Land Lease Auction, and Trustee Sale in Idaho

The First Judicial District Court for Kootenai County, Idaho, has published its official legal notices for April 24, 2026, covering a range of public proceedings including name change petitions, a state land lease opportunity, a civil summons, and a forthcoming trustee’s sale of residential property in Post Falls. These notices, filed through the Kootenai County District Court and related First District courts, serve as the public record of legal actions affecting residents across North Idaho’s Panhandle region.

Name Change Petitions Filed in Kootenai and Shoshone Counties

Two name change petitions are currently pending before First Judicial District courts in the region. In Kootenai County, Henrietta Marie Kurz, a resident of Post Falls, Idaho, has petitioned the district court to change her name to Queta Marie Kurz. The petition, filed under Case No. CV28-26-2335, cites the need to obtain a STAR Card — Idaho’s federally compliant identification card — as the reason for the change. A hearing on the petition is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 11, 2026, at the Kootenai County Courthouse. Jennifer Locke serves as Clerk of the District Court, with Mary Seevers listed as Deputy Clerk. Any person with a valid objection may file with the court prior to the hearing date.

In neighboring Shoshone County, RayAnn Kay Davis, a resident of Mullan, Idaho, has petitioned the First District Court in Shoshone County to change her name to RayAnn Kay Erickson following a divorce. That hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on June 10, 2026, at the Shoshone County Courthouse, under Case No. CV40-26-0199. Deputy Clerk Kaylee Frazier signed the notice.

State of Idaho Department of Lands Opens Kootenai County Lease for Public Auction

The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) has issued a notice of a lease auction opportunity involving a significant parcel of land in Kootenai County. Pursuant to Article IX, Section 8 of the Idaho Constitution and relevant sections of Idaho Code, the state is accepting applications for a 10-year lease covering 472.36 acres designated for Wildlife Management use in Kootenai County (Lease No. M300007).

The application deadline is April 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. If multiple applications are received, IDL will conduct a live auction, with the lease awarded to the highest bidder. Annual rental rates have been established by the department. Prospective applicants may obtain detailed information, including legal property descriptions and application instructions, through the IDL website at idl.idaho.gov, or by contacting Tony Brede at 208-245-4551.

State land leases represent an important component of Idaho’s public land management framework, generating revenue that supports public education and responsible stewardship of state resources across North Idaho and beyond.

Civil Summons and Trustee Sale Notices Filed in North Idaho Courts

A civil summons has been published on behalf of Dionysus Finance, LLC dba Advance Financial against Joseph Tucker in Shoshone County District Court (Case No. CV40-26-0080) for collection of money owed. The notice, filed through the First District Court in Wallace, Idaho, advises Tucker that a judgment may be entered against him if no written response is filed within 21 days of the last publication. Responses must be filed with the Shoshone County Clerk at 700 Bank St., Wallace, ID 83873.

A Notice of Trustee’s Sale has also been filed in Kootenai County regarding residential property at 1352 W. Miss Hana Ave., Post Falls, Idaho 83854 — legally described as Lot 4, Block 2, Berkshire Place. The public auction is scheduled for August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kootenai County Courthouse, Veterans Memorial Plaza, 451 North Government Way, Coeur d’Alene. The sale will be conducted by Sydney K. Leavitt, Esq., of Aldridge Pite, LLP, as trustee. The original deed of trust was executed by Christopher Nicholson and Amanda Nicholson and recorded in February 2023 in the official records of Kootenai County.
